Meeting with the Regional Governor of Central Greece regarding the Ultra Marathon “Roads of Freedom”

On February 11, following our request, we met with Mr. F. Spanos, Regional Governor of Central Greece, to present the official announcement of the 1st Multi-day Ultra Marathon ROADS OF FREEDOM race, which will take place from April 23 to 27, 2026.

As is well known, both historic routes of the Exodus passed through Dorida. This year, we will follow in the footsteps of the main body of our Messolonghi ancestors, who marched as far as Glyfada and from there, via Trizonia, crossed to Aigio.

Mr. Spanos reiterated his support for the organization of the ROADS OF FREEDOM, reminding us that since August the event has been under the auspices of the Region. He also promised that he will be present in Trizonia to welcome and greet the runners.

We also presented the budget for the 1st ROADS OF FREEDOM race to the Regional Governor, who assured us that the Region will contribute to covering the related expenses.

Our delegation included Kostas Karkanias, Giannis Tassiopoulos, and Giorgos Diamantis.
